A winter daiquiri with white rum, clementine juice and maple syrup, shaken cold and topped with a cinnamon stick. Sweet, citrusy and ready in 5 minutes.

Clementine Maple Daiquiri Cocktail

This clementine maple daiquiri tastes like winter in a glass: bright citrus, a little sweetness and a hint of cinnamon. It is a quick drink that feels special.

Tips for Success

  • Use fresh juice from the fruit. Bottled juice makes the drink taste dull.
  • A splash of lime keeps the drink from tasting too sweet.
  • Shake until the shaker is very cold. A daiquiri should be icy.
  • Taste and add another teaspoon of maple syrup if your clementines are tart.

Make-Ahead and Storage

Juice the fruit up to 1 day ahead and keep it in the fridge. For 6 drinks, mix 1 ½ cups rum, 1 cup clementine juice, ¼ cup lime juice and ¼ cup maple syrup in a pitcher. Chill for up to 1 day, then shake each portion with ice.

Variations

  • Non-alcoholic swap: replace the rum with 2 oz sparkling water and shake the juices and syrup as usual.
  • Use dark rum for a richer, toastier drink.
  • Add a pinch of ground ginger to the shaker.

Instructions

  1. Squeeze 2 clementines and 1 lime. Strain out any seeds.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  3. Add the white rum, clementine juice, lime juice and maple syrup.
  4. Close the lid and shake hard until the outside of the shaker feels frosty, about 15 seconds.
  5. Strain (pour through the shaker's built-in strainer to hold back the ice) into a cold coupe or small glass.
  6. Break the cinnamon stick in half and rest one piece in the glass, or crumble it over the top.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use orange juice instead of clementine juice?

Yes. Fresh orange juice works well. Clementine juice is a little sweeter, so you might want a bit less maple syrup with orange juice.

What rum is best for a daiquiri?

A light, clean white rum. It lets the clementine and maple flavors come through.

Can I make this drink frozen?

Yes. Blend all the ingredients with 1 ½ cups of ice until smooth, then pour into a glass. Add the cinnamon stick on top.
